My little brother got married. What a great time we all had. The weekend flew by way to fast… everything is still a blur to me.
I met up with Jim, Jeremy and Ben in Dallas Thursday afternoon. We stopped in to see Ben’s apartment before going on to Hooters for lunch. From there we went bowling and met up with more friends. Afterwards, we went somewhere to have a drink and smoke some cigars before taking the cab back for the night. Of course, we all went to bed early because we knew how important Friday was going to be… with the rehearsal and all of that. ;)
We drove back from Dallas Friday morning. As soon as we reached my parents house we were put to work. For the next several hours we were recruited to help set-up the rehearsal dinner… then we went on to get the tux fitted… home to shower, change and head back to the church for the rehearsal.
Saturday was the wedding. Everything looked spectacular. All in all, the wedding went off nearly as perfect as anyone could ever hope for… then on to the reception.
I had a toast/speech to give… let me say I thoroughly embarrassed Ben by telling a story about a time when I was shaving (back when I still lived at home… Ben was around 8yrs old at the time)… to make a long story short… Benjamin ended up sneaking back into the bathroom and using my razor to shave off an eyebrow… Mom screamed when she found him… anyhow… we had Easter portraits the following day. To this day, there is a family portrait hanging in my parents house which shows Ben missing one eyebrow. After all the toasts and speeches we danced… I did some break dancing to get a good laugh… a good time was had by all.
After the reception, the brides maids and a few of us groomsmen snuck to the honeymoon suit to ‘decorate’ the place. We left it looking fantastic. Then… to my parents house for a luau party.
Sunday, Jim, my aunt and I all caught the same flight to Dallas together… what a ride that turned out to be. There was a line of West Texas thunderstorms which we had to fly through to get to Dallas… although we were laughing as much as possible, deep down inside I kept thinking the plan would plunge us to our deaths. After circling outside of Dallas for an hour, being re-routed south to a safer airport when Dallas was closed, waiting on the ground for over an hour and finally being cleared to fly back into Dallas, we made it in safely. Of course, this was nearly 3 hours later than we were meant to arrive. All of our connections from there were screwed up. I managed to make it home sometime around 11pm. Jim made it back to DC at around 3am. My poor aunt had her connection canceled and was forced to stay overnight in a hotel. She caught a flight the next day at 1pm.
After all the excitement… it was good to make it home. I’m now focusing on classes and getting ready for Jory to arrive. ;)
